Xingyi Zhao is a Chinese-born, Chicago-based artist. 

She draws pictures, prints impressions, traces marks, weaves images, winds yarns, ties knots, and takes daily notes. She observes, collects, and rearranges.

Her work has been exhibited across the Midwest and beyond, with recent shows at Zolla/Lieberman Gallery and ARC Gallery in Chicago. She has participated in the Winter Residency at Penland School of Craft, the W.A.R.P Residency at The Weaving Mill (Chicago, IL), and the Spudnik Press Cooperative Fellowship (Chicago, IL). Zhao earned her BFA and MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was awarded the 2022 SPARKS Grant from the Chicago Artist Coalition.
